“The Original Tube Gun” TM

Features:
The sleeve:
The sleeve is made specifically for the short action
Remington 700. It is the same type of sleeve often used in the bench rest setup. The difference is that
the hand guard, trigger guard, and aft cap all attach to the sleeve vs. bedding the sleeve in a
composite or wood stock. The sleeve has clearance holes to allow the trigger pins to be installed or
removed for repair or replacement. A slot is machined to allow for the serial number of the
action to be viewed to cure any BATF type concerns. The loading port area provides for easy loading and
unloading of rounds up to 3.00” in overall length. Longer loads may be able to be removed without
removing the bolt but we have not proven this out yet.

The aft cap
The
aft cap secures the buttstock to the sleeve. It is
held in place by (2) ¼-28 cap screws. It has the
AR15 charging handle feature to mimic the AR15 for
those who use this as a reference for position. It
is keyed such that when installed the slot for the
bolt handle is aligned with the sleeve slot for
smooth operation when working the bolt. The aft cap
will accept any AR15 style buttstock..

The hand guard
There
isn’t anything special about the hand guard. It is
machined from 2”extruded aluminum. It is knurled
with a medium knurl and the hand stop slot runs 9”
of the total length of 12”. The Accuracy Speaks
t-slot nuts with hand stop work very well with this
configuration. The hand guard is drilled and tapped
in front for a bipod stud. It is held in place by
(2) ¼-28 screws so removal is easy when barrel
replacement is necessary. It is slip fit onto the
sleeve. This is a solid connection even before the
screws are installed.

The trigger guard
The
trigger guard serves several functions. It provides
easy access to the trigger, is the attachment point
for the standard AR15 pistol grip, and is the
alignment mechanism to ensure the aft cap slot for
the bolt handle is aligned with the sleeve.

The sight rail
The
sight rail is 10” in length and is machined in the
Weaver configuration. It is clearanced in the front
and rear so that it extends over the aft cap and
hand guard. It does not come drilled as we prefer to
glue in the action and then drill the sleeve and
rail in true alignment with the barrel. Maybe this
is not an issue but we want to be sure there aren’t
any zeroing issues. There is also a clearance hole
in the top of the rail to allow removal of the hand
guard screw without removal of the rail.
